Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Alex and I am glad that you have found this site as I am a Psychiatric Registered Nurse with a focus in behavioral health dealing with issues such as substance abuse, anxiety, depression and general mental health. I am sure it was no accident that you found this site. With this said let me tell you about who I am.

My Experience

I have been in the healthcare industry for the last 31 years with 11 years experience as a Registered Nurse in behavioral health. What sparked my interest in this field is seeing people suffering from substance abuse, homelessness, abuse, anxiety, panic disorders, anxiety, depression, and war veterans with post-traumatic stress disorders.

Having observed and witnessed these really broke my heart that I decided to devote my nursing career into behavioral health. I have worked in various outpatient psychiatric centers – General Mental Health, Detox Centers, SMI (Seriously Mentally Ill) and Inpatient adolescent psychiatric residential treatment centers.

What I believe

I believe in holistic medicine that deals with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual. Our bodies are very complex in nature and a disequilibrium of one can affect the other. I have seen it in my practice. For example most antipsychotic medications cause weight gain (97% of my patients) and so I advise my patients to eat a balanced meal, exercise, take their medications and to see their primary care physician for an annual physical exam.

A holistic approach would be the coordination of the primary care physician, psychiatrist, nurse, mental health and vocational rehab counselors, peer support, case managers, pastor, social worker but most important of all is the family’s participation in the overall mental health recovery of the patient as this has a tremendous impact in the total well being of the patient.

My Goal

My goal here at Go Get Mentally Fit is to help you find ways to manage your behavioral health issues whether it be referral to counseling centers, addiction recovery centers, audio, video and books, herbal supplements and more. Your success is my success. If I made a difference in your life please let me know. I have seen it in my practice that recovery is possible only if you take action right now. If you are in crisis please call the nearest crisis center near you. Remember the old adage that a “healthy mind is a healthy body.” Or better yet to be mentally fit is to be physically fit.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, please feel free to contact me below and I will be more than happy to help you out. Thank you and God bless you !

Wishing you the best,

Alex, RN

Hi Kristoff,

Thank you for visiting my website. I am here as advocate for people suffering from behavioral health issues whether it be anxiety, depression, substance abuse, PTSD, obesity or sleep problems. I want to motivate and inspire others that there are alternatives to behavioral health issues other than prescribed medications. If you have read my blog on Anxiety and Depression – Coping Techniques I outline ways to deal with this. Please share the article to others who may benefit from it.

This is a good idea, people need to take care of ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally most of all to trust God..
thanks for sharing and God bless
